CHRONICLES OF A MAN: LACHRYMOSE

Two butterflies flying around in the garden full of flowers,
They are so happy and their lives as colorful as a rainbow,
They share their love and hope together,
Until one summer day he finds her gone, leaving him winging alone...

... Though he flies everywhere looking for her but only emptiness embraces him...

Still he has hope she will return so he keeps the fire burning,
Waiting through burning sunlit and freezing rain,
Through thousand lonely days and long cold nights,
Through endless seasons...

... Though he flies everywhere calling her name but only silence answers him...

Until one day he gets old and weak, his wings are aging to fly,
He knows his hope is lost and she will never return,
So he lies his wings on a dead flower and whispers her name for the last time,
A tear falls from his eye as he sigh his last breath...

...And the rain falls...

We will climb the highest mountain, cross the raging river,
Sail the seven seas, touch the sun and reach the moon,
Spread our wings to the seventh heaven and climb the stars,
Taste the fruit of love, sleep on the clouds,

...and the birds will sing... and the leaves will dance...

We will stand so high on the shoulder of the world, against the anger,
Teach the world to sing, spread the words of love,
Walking through the storm with faith that love will keep us alive,

...and all the children will smile... and all the beasts will praise our love...

It's you and me, together, forever through tears and laughter...

Music For The Uncommon Man: Bacamarte "Depois Do Fim"

Aku sama sekali gak kenal dengan band ini sebelumnya sampai suatu hari temanku yang gila musik (kolektor dan penjual) menyebut nama band asal Brazil ini sekaligus menawarkan cd kopiannya. Awalnya aku gak begitu tertarik namun rasa ingin tahu mengalahkan segalanya dan akupun mengiyakan untuk mengambil kopian cd  yang ditawarkan.

Dari hasil contekanku lewat Google/ Wikipedia, BACAMARTE yang asal Brazil adalah sebuah band progressive rock, symphonic prog-rock tepatnya yang hanya merilis 2 album dalam rentang waktu cukup panjang. Album pertama mereka (Depois do Fim) dirilis 1983 dan album kedua baru rilis pada akhir dekade 90an.

Depois Do Fim sebenarnya direkam tahun 1978 namun kemudian tidak jadi dirilis dengan pertimbangan pada era akhir 70an dunia musik sedang dilanda demam disco, punk serta new wave sehingga Bacamarte memilih untuk menunggu waktu yang tepat untuk merilisnya. Akhirnya tahun 1983 album ini dirilis juga.

Album ini mainly instrumental namun tetap ada beberapa lagu yang ada vokalnya dan asiknya mereka punya dua vokalis, laki dan perempuan.
Suara synthesizer pada kibor selalu hadir di setiap lagu dan semua lagu di album ini menurutku bisa dibilang enerjik/ bertempo mid-fast. Aku tidak mendengar (atau jangan-jangan belum mendengar, hehehe) lagu yang bertempo lambat. Musik Bacamarte sepertinya sejalur dengan Yes dan Genesis, hal ini makin kuat dengan hadirnya flute di lagu-lagu mereka. Yang lebih asik, di album ini aku masih bisa dengar pengaruh musik Latin dengan alunan/petikan classic guitar.

Untuk sebuah band yang belum pernah aku kenal sebelumnya dan album yang gak pernah aku dengar, pada awalnya aku gak terlalu berharap banyak. Tadinya aku menduga musik mereka akan overtly influenced by Latin Music jadi aku akan disuguhi musik seperti Gypsy Kings. Namun semua dugaanku berubah jadi decak kagum begitu aku spin cd ini untuk pertama kalinya. Satu kekurangannya mungkin hanya pada output/ hasil rekamannya yang tidak seciamik album-album prog band prog dari Eropa/ Amerika, namun overall this album is highly recommended karena musiknya juga karena terbilang langka.
